18 months DA arrears likely to be discussed the cabinet secretary

Image
Employees at the central office can now receive good news once more. In December, the 18-month DA arrears might be discussed with the cabinet secretary. The employees' expectations regarding their 18-month arrears have yet to be met. When the government announced the defreezing of the dearness allowance, it did so prospectively, with no arrears. The groups demanded that the arrears be given as well. However, the case of 18-month DA arrears is still unresolved. According to Shiv Gopal Mishra, Secretary (Staff Side) of the National Council of Joint Consultative Machinery (JCM), the council has made a demand to the government that, in addition to restoring the DA, a one-time settlement of DA arrears owed for the past 18 months be completed. However, it is believed that the Cabinet Secretary will be able to discuss this in December. Significantly, the Prime Minister has been notified of the 18-month arrears. The hopes of central staff regarding arrears have been reawakened as a result

Many Scheduled Tribes (ST) personnel denied pension and retirement benefits

Image
Several Scheduled Tribes personnel at the Centre have had their retirement benefits postponed pending the Tamil Nadu government's certification of their caste certificates. For the same reason, scores of employees' promotions have been halted. Employees, notably those who claimed to be from the Kattu Naicker and Malaikuravan communities, are at problem. According to sources, the Department of Personnel and Training, Ministry of Personnel, Public Grievances and Pensions, has written to the Chief Secretaries of all States/Union Territories, stating that pensionary benefits of employees working in various offices and organisations under the Central Government in Tamil Nadu have been withheld because caste verification from the State Government was pending.
