Specification and purchase limit for purchasing new Desktop Computers for Railway officers and staff

The railway board has issued an office order detailing the specifications and price ceiling for the desktop computers for the railway officials. This is in line with the eligibility for the procurement of computers for central government employees.  The Model Technical Specification of Desktop PCs was framed by the Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology (MeitY). The specifications and price ceiling are for the procurement of a new PC and not for the replacement of PCs, which will be done only on age-cum-condition and functional requirement basis.

The eligibility is as given below

  1. For Officers SAG and above
    • All in One (AlO) PC 
    • Core i7 processor
    • 16 GB RAM
    • 1TB HDD
    • 256 SSD
    • 21,5” monitor
    • Price ceiling limit: ₹ 95000/-
  2. Directors/JDs/DDs/SOs and other Gazetted officer
    • All in One (AlO) PC 
    • Core i5 processor
    • 8 GB RAM
    • 500 GB HDD
    • 21.5” monitor
    • Price ceiling limit: ₹ 70000/-
  3. All Non-Gazetted staff
    • Desktop PC 
    • Core i3 processor
    • 4 GB RAM
    • 500 GB HDD
    • 21.5” monitor
    • Price ceiling limit: ₹ 50000/-

September AI CPI-IW out. DA Expected to Cross 50% from January 2024

The Labour Bureau has published the All-India Consumer Price Index for Industrial Workers (CPI-IW) for the month of September 2023. The All-India CPI-IW declined by 1.7 points in September 2023, from 139.2 in August 2023. Based on the indices till August 2023, the expected DA for central government employees from January 2024 was expected to cross 50%. However, even with the CPI-IW declining by 1.7 points in October 2023, still the DA can be 50% from January 2024. However, the chances of it becoming 51% is less. For the calculation of the DA, CPI-IW indices for 12 months, i.e. January 2023 to December 2024 are required. The indices for three more months are required to calculate the exact DA.
