Staff Selection Commission (SSC) has recently announced the SSC CHSL Recruitment 2024 notification on 08/04/2024. The notification aims to fill 3712 vacancies on a regular basis. Interested and eligible candidates are encouraged to review the eligibility criteria and apply online from 08th April 2024 to 07th May 2024.

Position : Combined Higher Secondary Level Exam

Educational Qualification:

  • LDC/JSA and DEO/DEO Grade A:
    • Candidates must have passed 12th Standard or equivalent from a recognized Board or University.

Pay Scale:

  • Candidates will receive the salary according to their postings. Post wise Pay Scale for Combined Higher Secondary (10+2) Level Examination, 2024 is given below.
    • LDC / JSA: 19,900 – 63,200
    • DEO (Level-4, Level-5): Level4: 25,500 – 81,100 & Level 5: 29,200 – 92,300
    • DEO (Grade A): 25,500 – 81,100

Age limit (as on 01/08/2024):

  • The age limit for the Combined Higher Secondary (10+2) Level Examination is given below. Candidates born not before 02/08/1997 and not later than 01/08/2006 are eligible to apply. Relaxation in upper age limit for different categories are as under.
    • Minimum Age: 18 years
    • Maximum Age: 27 years

Age relaxation:

  • Relaxation in the upper age limit is applicable for reserved category candidates. Check age relaxation for different categories here.

Nationality/ Citizenship:

  • A candidate must be either:
    • a citizen of India
    • a subject of Nepal
    • a subject of Bhutan
    • a Tibetan refugee who came over to India, before the 1st January, 1962 with the intention of permanently settling in India
    • a person of Indian origin who has migrated from Pakistan, Burma, Sri Lanka, East African Countries of Kenya, Uganda, the United Republic of Tanzania (Formerly Tanganyika and Zanzibar), Zambia, Malawi, Zaire, Ethiopia and Vietnam with the intention of permanently settling in India.

  • Computer Based Examination (Tier-I)
  • Descriptive Paper (Tier-II)

Application Fee:

  • Candidates must pay the application fee online on or before 08/05/2024. Fee can be paid online through BHIM UPI, Net Banking or by using Visa, MasterCard, Maestro, RuPay Credit or Debit cards or in cash at SBI Branches by generating SBI Challan.
    • Women / SC / ST / PwD / ESM: No Fee
    • Others: 100/-

September AI CPI-IW out. DA Expected to Cross 50% from January 2024

The Labour Bureau has published the All-India Consumer Price Index for Industrial Workers (CPI-IW) for the month of September 2023. The All-India CPI-IW declined by 1.7 points in September 2023, from 139.2 in August 2023. Based on the indices till August 2023, the expected DA for central government employees from January 2024 was expected to cross 50%. However, even with the CPI-IW declining by 1.7 points in October 2023, still the DA can be 50% from January 2024. However, the chances of it becoming 51% is less. For the calculation of the DA, CPI-IW indices for 12 months, i.e. January 2023 to December 2024 are required. The indices for three more months are required to calculate the exact DA. Based on the indices till September 2023, the expected DA for central government employees from January 2024 is almost certain to cross 50%.
