3093 Act Apprentice posts at Northern Railway

Northern Railway is inviting online applications from eligible candidates who have passed 10th and ITI for engagement as Act Apprentices under the Apprentices Act 1961. This engagement aims to provide training at various Divisions / Units / Workshops across Northern Railway. The closing date for submission of applications for Northern Railway Apprentice 2023-24 is 11th January 2024.

  • Position : Act Apprentice
  • Educational Qualification : Candidates must have passed SSC / Matriculation / 10th class examination or its equivalent with a minimum of 50% marks in aggregate from a recognized board.
  • Candidates must have passed ITI in the relevant trade issued by NCVT / SCVT recognized by the Government of India.

Northern Railway Apprentice Age Limit:

  • Age Range: 15 to 24 years as of 11th January 2024.
  • Age Relaxation:
    • Upper age limit is relaxable by 5 years for SC / ST, 3 years for OBC, and 10 years for PwD candidates.

Northern Railway Apprentice Stipend:

  • Monthly stipend as per the provisions of the Apprentice Act 1961.
  • Northern Railway Apprentice Selection Process:
  • Screening and Scrutiny of applications.
  • No Written Test or Viva.
  • Selection based on merit prepared by averaging the percentage marks obtained by the candidate in both Matriculation / SSC / 10th and ITI, giving equal weightage to both.

Northern Railway Apprentice Application Fee:

  • ₹100/- for General / OBC category and other state candidates.
  • No fee for SC / ST / PwBD / Women candidates.
  • The fee should be paid through online mode.

September AI CPI-IW out. DA Expected to Cross 50% from January 2024

The Labour Bureau has published the All-India Consumer Price Index for Industrial Workers (CPI-IW) for the month of September 2023. The All-India CPI-IW declined by 1.7 points in September 2023, from 139.2 in August 2023. Based on the indices till August 2023, the expected DA for central government employees from January 2024 was expected to cross 50%. However, even with the CPI-IW declining by 1.7 points in October 2023, still the DA can be 50% from January 2024. However, the chances of it becoming 51% is less. For the calculation of the DA, CPI-IW indices for 12 months, i.e. January 2023 to December 2024 are required. The indices for three more months are required to calculate the exact DA.
