Northern Railway has announced the Northern Railway Recruitment 2023 for Apprentice Posts through a notification released on 06/12/2023. The recruitment drive aims to fill 3093 vacancies for training in designated Trades under the Apprentices Act 1961 across various workshops/Units of North Eastern Railways. Eligible and interested candidates are invited to apply online between 25/11/2023 to 24/12/2023.

  • Candidates must have passed 10th grade and possess an ITI certificate in the relevant trade.

Vacancy Details of Northern Railway Recruitment 2023: Apprentice Posts

  • A total of 3093 Apprentice positions are available across various divisions/units. Apprentices will be engaged in various trades as per the requirement.

Pay Scale:

  • Selected candidates will receive a monthly stipend as per Government Rules.

Age Limit (as on 11/01/2024):

  • Age for applicants should be between 15 to 24 years as of 11/01/2024.

Age Relaxation:

  • Relaxation in the upper age limit is applicable for SC/ST/OBC/Divyang candidates:
    • SC/ST: 5 years
    • OBC: 3 years
    • Divyang: 10 years

Selection Process:

  • The selection process will include:
    • Document Verification
    • Merit list based on qualifications

  • Application fees can be paid online.
  • Fee details:
    • UR/OBC/Other: ₹100/-
    • SC/ST/EWS/Divyang (PwBD)/Women candidates are exempted from the application fee.

September AI CPI-IW out. DA Expected to Cross 50% from January 2024

The Labour Bureau has published the All-India Consumer Price Index for Industrial Workers (CPI-IW) for the month of September 2023. The All-India CPI-IW declined by 1.7 points in September 2023, from 139.2 in August 2023. Based on the indices till August 2023, the expected DA for central government employees from January 2024 was expected to cross 50%. However, even with the CPI-IW declining by 1.7 points in October 2023, still the DA can be 50% from January 2024. However, the chances of it becoming 51% is less. For the calculation of the DA, CPI-IW indices for 12 months, i.e. January 2023 to December 2024 are required. The indices for three more months are required to calculate the exact DA. Based on the indices till September 2023, the expected DA for central government employees from January 2024 is almost certain to cross 50%.
